How to use Plascon Woodcare Exterior Varnish:
Wood that has been maintained creates a “living” piece that shows it is well cared for. Maintenance on a regular basis makes the actual task easier and adds years onto the life span of wood. Below are the steps you can follow to ensure your Plascon Woodcare Exterior project achieves the best results:
Uses Ideal for use on most wooden surfaces such as garage doors, shutters, window frames, doors, garden furniture, skirting, and gates. Surface preparation All surfaces must be clean, dry and sound. Remove any oil, grease, mortar droppings etc. New Wood Sand in the direction of the grain, to a smooth finish with 150 grit paper. Remove dust with a damp cloth. Previously varnished wood in good condition Sand to a matt finish to create a bond or key between the old and new coat. Remove dust with a damp cloth.
Previously varnished wood in bad condition Remove old varnish completely by deep sanding or by using RemovALL All Purpose Paint Remover (RRA220). Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Allow surface to dry. Sand to a smooth finish. Remove dust with a damp cloth.
Wood previously coated with wax sealer/oil-based wood varnish Remove all evidence of residue by mechanically sanding or by using RemovALL All Purpose Paint Remover (RRA220). Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Allow surface to dry. Sand to smooth finish. Remove dust with a damp cloth. Previously painted wood Strip old paint by deep sanding or by using RemovALL All Purpose Paint Remover. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Allow surface to dry. Sand bare wood to a smooth finish. Remove dust with a damp cloth. Discoloured or weathered wood Remove discoloured or weathered layer by sanding with 100 grit paper. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Allow surface to dry. Sand bare wood to a smooth finish. Remove dust with a damp cloth. Knots in wood Apply Plascon WoodCare Knot Seal (PK2). Application
